First Time Homebuyer Program

HOMEBUYERS - First Time Homebuyer Program
The First Time Homebuyer Program makes purchasing a home more affordable for low-to-moderate income families and individuals by offering fixed, low-interest rate mortgage loans. In addition, Florida Housing also offers down payment and closing costs assistance to eligible borrowers, which can greatly reduce the out of pocket expense to the buyer. Florida Housing’s First Time Homebuyer Program provides a continuous stream of lending throughout the year for eligible first-time homebuyers. If you're not a first-time homebuyer, you may still be eligible if you're purchasing a home in one of 13 GO Zone counties. Click on the First Time Homebuyer Wizard to find out if you're eligible for the program.

Program Highlights
 The program offers low-interest 30 and 40 year fixed-rate loans, down payment and closing costs assistance as well as access to credit counseling.  

Teachers, firefighters, healthcare workers, police officers, as well as active duty and veteran military personnel could be eligible for lower interest rates. 

Eligible applicants include individuals who:

bullet

have never owned a home,

bullet

don't claim their mobile home as real property,

bullet

haven't owned and occupied a home as their primary residence within the past three years,

bullet

have established credit worthiness, and

bullet

have an annual income that does not exceed program limits.

GO Zone Counties: First-Time Homebuyer Requirement Waived in 13 Counties
 

Congress recently passed the GO Zone Act in response to the devastation caused by hurricanes Wilma and Katrina. This Act has waived the first-time homebuyer requirement and has increased the income and purchase price limits in 13 Florida counties through December 31, 2010.
